Russian Provincial Life by Bruce Gilden

Bruce Gilden  spent a couple of weeks in a small Russian town near Yekaterinburg. According to the american photographer, the area is filled with former criminals, drug addicts and ‘lost people’.

Gilden aimed to document the everyday life of these local gangsters. He managed to win their trust with gifts of food and booze

“They all live in the dark decaying village communities. The basis of their life – vodka and violence “- says Bruce.

Oddly enough, the number of women in the village is twice that of men. As a result, all these gentlemen, including criminals, are in great demand.
