The price of EUR 2 400 000 (including bonus) was reached by the Leica 0 no. 0. 122 at an auction held by WestLicht on 10 March. Several collectors in the room and on the phone took part in the auction and bid on the starting price of 400,000 euros to achieve a result 6 times higher.
This exceptional price also reflects the fantastic condition of the camera. In 1923, two years before the introduction of the first Leica, Ernst Leitz produced 25 of these test devices, of which only three are still in their original condition. This is the highest price ever paid for a camera at an auction.
