David Alan Harvey and His Escape from the World

Learn from one of the greatest photography teachers, David Alan Harvey

If you aren’t following David Alan Harvey on Instagram, do yourself a favor and change your ways. His account is arguably one of the most valuable accounts for a budding photographer to follow due to his never-ending posts with beautifully written captions and his prolific story-posting. His generous spirit shines through as he gives mini-course after mini-course on how to create a book or how to be a more devoted shooter. David lives for photography and his wisdom on the craft is invaluable.

He was recently interviewed by Coralie Kraft, and this paragraph fabulously summarizes how passionate David Alan Harvey is about his love affair with the camera, “I’ve been a voracious shooter for as long as I can remember. Even when I was a kid, I was always taking pictures. I was the editor of the family newspaper, and I always made a daily visual diary, starting from 12 years old. I shoot something every day, unless I’m on an airplane or I’m in the middle of a workshop. Other than that, I’m always interested in whatever’s going on around me. Life always looks better through a viewfinder—my camera is kind of an escape from the real world. I don’t change whatever’s out there, but the world somehow seems more interesting and exciting when I’m taking a picture of it.”

Take this inspiration and continue to shoot, even when you think there’s no reason!
